What electrical/subfloor preparations do I need to make?

We recommend a qualified electrician carry out all electrical work, discuss your plans with him and whoever is doing the tile laying, installing heating mats is simple - our guidelines (included with every kit pack) are comprehensive and easy to follow.
The system is suitable for installing on any sub-floor which is sound and suitable for tiling, in the main this will be concrete, plywood, cement faced tile-backer boards or even over existing floor tiles.

It is important to make sure that you have the correct size heating system. Underfloor heating is not laid under permanent furniture (kitchen cabinets and sanitary ware), just in the free floor space. Typically about 85% of a room is usually available as 'free floor space' this diagram shows what free floor space would be used in a typical bathroom.
